A new story in Night City

This is a standalone follow-up to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. It brings a new story and a different group of characters rather than continuing the first anime's specific narrative. Night City remains the setting, a metropolis shaped by powerful corporations, widespread cybernetic modification, gang violence and fights over control.

The new season follows four leads: a veteran edgerunner, a cinephile, a chrome-obsessed delinquent and a Snake Nation netrunner, whose lives get tangled up with the city's criminal and corporate power structures.

The main four are voiced by Clancy Brown (English) and Kentaro Tone (Japanese) as the veteran edgerunner; Nazeeh Tarsha (English) and Koki Uchiyama (Japanese) as D; Valeria Rodriguez (English) and Momoka Terasawa (Japanese) as Roman Carax; and Kimoy Lee (English) and Akari Kito (Japanese) as Talia Yang.

Who is making it

Bartosz Sztybor is the showrunner, story writer and producer on Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, and it is produced by CD Projekt Red and the Japanese animation studio Trigger. Kai Ikarashi directs, with Masahiko Otsuka also writing. The series is planned as a 10-episode original net animation miniseries.

The original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners debuted on Netflix in 2022. Also produced by Trigger and CD Projekt Red, it followed David Martinez, a young man who becomes a mercenary known as an edgerunner after personal tragedy pushes him into Night City's dangerous underworld.

The follow-up is a fresh entry point into Night City, and Indian fans can start watching from 12:30 PM IST.
